Blair Marriott - ITCMeet Blair Marriott, Senior Superintendent ITC Construction. With over 30 years of experience, Blair Marriott has served ITC for more than 50 high-rise projects and on many Century Group’s development projects, including Citypoint at Gateway SkyTrain station in North Surrey and here at 3 Civic Plaza. He actively manages all of the sub-trades and ensures the building stays on schedule.

Trained as a structural engineer at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, he decided early on that he preferred to work in construction over engineering, partly due to his father’s influence as a foreman contractor. His training serves him well — he is somewhat of a specialist with 3 Civic Plaza’s unique heating and cooling system, installing thermal breaks and reducing heat loss for the building.

Married for 40 years, with two lovely daughters, Blair loves to travel (particularly on cruises), ride motorcycles (Harley’s, of course) and play hockey in his free time. Blair has also entered and completed more than 30 triathlons. Born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Blair has worked in a number of cities, including Boston, New York, San Diego and Calgary, before settling in Vancouver.

Blair is currently looking forward to getting beyond the mechanical floor at 3 Civic Plaza so that he can get to that next milestone of building up one floor per week! So, every day you see the tower rising higher and higher, you have Blair to thank.

Our team at 3 Civic Plaza knows that many buyers want more than floor plans to envision living in a home space. To satisfy this need for our most asked about suites, we’ve released a collection of fully furnished 3D renderings to help buyers better imagine themselves in their new home. The floor plans with available renderings are our three bedroom T plan; our two bedroom, two bath G1 plan; our M plan, featuring a balcony that can be accessed from the living room and the bedroom; and our J1 plan, another 2 bedroom home that features a separate entryway.

The largest unit we currently offer for sale (sorry all of our penthouse suites sold out within the first three months!), our ‘T Plan’, has three bedrooms and two bathrooms with spacious open-concept living spaces. These homes are just over 1400 square feet and provide beautiful west facing views. Buyers can enjoy a spacious kitchen designed to channel one’s inner chef, fully equipped with a moveable dining island and space for a formal dining table. The kitchen and dining area is open to the main living space, making the home perfect for entertaining. The living room is big enough to accommodate either a large sectional or a couch and loveseat. The master bedroom has a luxurious adjoining ensuite and all three bedrooms have plentiful closet space. This floor plan is available on floors 35 – 38.

The ‘G1 Plan’ offers two bedrooms and two bathrooms and is located on the corner of the building allowing residents to enjoy south, east, and west facing views. Homeowners will similarly love cooking in the spacious kitchen that includes an island which doubles as a dining table. This plan also features a fantastic balcony that is large enough to fit a table and chairs for four. These homes vary slightly in size depending on the floor, but are approximately 1020 square feet and are available on floors 25 – 38.

Another spacious two bedroom home to choose from is our ‘M Plan’. The bedrooms in this home are strategically placed on either side of the living room for maximum privacy. The master has an adjoining ensuite, while the other bedroom has a washroom just across the hall. These west facing homes come with large windows in both bedrooms and in the living room; great for letting in lots of light in the afternoon. The balcony can be accessed from the living room or from the second bedroom. This home is approximately 1050 square feet and is available on floors 39 – 50.

Our ‘J1 Plan’ is another two bedroom, two bath option. Many homeowners will appreciate this home’s separate entryway, allowing room to drop off your keys and coat before entering the main living space. This home offers fabulous west facing views from the living room and both bedrooms and residents will also enjoy a sizable balcony accessible from the living room. These homes again vary in size depending on floor, but are approximately 850 square feet, available on floors 15 – 24.

An Autograph Collection Hotel in Surrey City Centre

The Autograph Collection is Marriott International’s curator of independent and extraordinary hotels and we’re very excited to have one coming to Surrey City Centre. Designed by Cotter Architects and ZGF Architects LLP, the Civic Hotel is full of innovative details that will definitely make it stand out from the competition.

The hotel restaurant’s cuisine will be a fusion of locally-grown ingredients and South Asian influences with an emphasis on sustainability. Organic waste from the kitchen will even be sent back to the farms to be used as compost, completing the food circle.

The hotel features numerous event spaces, but the largest, the Grand Ballroom, will accommodate approximately 275 people for seated events and up to 500 for receptions. We expect these spaces to be very attractive for event organizers planning events or business conventions in Surrey City Centre.

There will be three options for guests, the Superior King with a king-sized bed and combinable into a single suite, the Double Queen with two queen-sized beds and a Standard King with one king-sized bed. All of the rooms blend modern design with innovative features, such as the layouts, which distinguish them from other Autograph hotel suites.

With 37,000-40,000 guests per year expected at Civic Hotel, it is estimated that more than $3.6 million in ancillary revenue will be injected into local businesses and services each year. This is based on the average international visitor to Canada in 2011 spending $99.60 per day (Canadian Tourism Commission).

The Civic Hotel will be 21 storeys with 144 guest rooms, a convention space, fitness centre, lobby-based café, fine dining restaurant and rooftop patio for special events.

Construction of the project began May 2014 and is expected to be complete late 2016. In the News: 3 Civic Plaza featured in The Province


Recently 3 Civic Plaza was featured in an article in The Province, in which the author, Mary Frances Hill, highlights the luxurious interiors of the residences in this unique development. The impeccable interiors done by Sharron van der Meulen and Mark Haidle, who are the lead designers at ZGF Architects, exemplify a mix of ‘modern eclectic’ and hotel luxury.

“The design and colour options are varied to appeal to a broad range of potential buyers from many cultures”, said Haidle. The suites also offer many high-end features which resemble those in world class premium hotels that you wouldn’t normally see in residential suites, according to Sean Hodgins, President of Century Group.

Definitely a development worth checking out!

‘Civic Hotel is coming to Surrey’ reads the title of a new post on Scott Graham’s blog, WFLBC, which boasts the state of the art amenities featured in 3 Civic Plaza’s Civic Hotel. With 144 rooms, this 50 story mixed-use hotel and residential project is going to be a show stopper with features including a two story ‘glass box’ grand lobby as well as a spectacular roof garden, perfect for parties and taking in views of the city.

The project, which was designed by Vancouver-based Cotter Architects, has a ‘progressive architecture and modern design’ which reflects Surrey’s ‘South Asian cultural influences’ very well, and will soon be one of the center pieces for the new Surrey City Centre.

On top of the Civic Hotel, 22 storeys above the Civic Plaza, guests and residents of 3 Civic Plaza will enjoy a rooftop garden with expansive views of City Centre and the surrounding mountains. As part of the overall hotel and residential experience, this urban oasis will be available to everyone for events, parties and get-togethers.

It will simply be stunning. Plans include covered areas for weddings, reunions and soirées, as well as open outdoor space for evenings under the stars; and at an expected 5,250 square feet, and nearly 20 feet of vertical space, there will be plenty of room for most activities.

The rooftop garden will also have water features, walkways and a number of quiet patios and private activity areas for lunchtime retreats, meet-ups, yoga and meditation, with decking made from a recycled rice husks. We’re even considering how we could integrate food stations, and carts for coffee and cocktails.

Some of the green space will be used for urban gardens, such as a number of raised beds for herbs, vegetables and garnishes — a culinary connection to the ground floor restaurant. We will also feature edible plants as a tribute to Surrey’s small-scale farms, perhaps with honey, blueberries, strawberries and salad greens. Native British Columbian flowering plants will attract and provide food sources for bees, butterflies and birds.

The benefit to our residential owners with having a commercially-owned amenity space such as this one is that all maintenance, upkeep and programming doesn’t come out of their pockets, regardless of their interest in using the facilities. Truly, this amenity on top of the hotel will be a benefit to the entire community — a place for lifestyles and leisure to come together in the middle of the new centre of city life at 3 Civic Plaza.
