Construction Progress: Headed for the Clouds

The construction progress is impressive in the month of July!

The bottom floors of the hotel are nearly complete—drywall, insulation, and bathroom and bedroom configurations are already in place.

We took the lift to the rooftop of the Civic Hotel and was greeted with the most breathtaking view in Surrey.

Decorating the top of the rooftop ceiling and on the walls are the signature guitar picks that help distinguish 3 Civic Plaza in Surrey City Centre. Finally, with first layer of waterproofing membrane installed, the hotel pool is taking shape.

Currently, we are pouring concrete on floor 36 and the vignette displays are nearly complete for approval. Soon, we will be able to get a taste of what the completed suites will look like upon completion.

Construction Progress: Top Floor of Civic Hotel Complete

With 2016 upon us, it is a perfect time to acknowledge our accomplishments in 2015 and what we have to look forward to this year. The most exciting news? We will reach the top of the residential tower in October 2016.guitarpic

ITC are moving very quickly to keep us on schedule. The infographic above shows the projected progress of the building construction in each quarter. Once we have established ‘Tier 1’, the 15th Floor, the tower will rise at a rate of about one floor each week. Of course, it has taken some time to get here. While most people can see the signature ‘guitar pick’ windows continuing to take shape, there’s an amazing amount of work that’s been done inside the project that cannot be seen from the outside… the built-in local energy system and the three hoist elevators, for two examples.

It was a busy year… in 2015 we completed:

  • All 3 floors of Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s first urban campus (KPU Civic Plaza)
  • 8 of the 16 floors for Surrey’s first Marriott Autograph Collection hotel, including window-wall installation.
  • All 6 hotel amenity spaces, which includes the pre-function area, convention ballrooms and meeting rooms
  • Placing more than 50% of the total concrete to be used in the building, with the parkade finished earlier in the year

3 Civic Plaza is beginning to feel like the landmark we expect it to be, and every day brings us closer to Surrey’s vision for a vibrant, active downtown. To watch daily progress, check out our construction camera at:, or for a more artistic view follow us on

It’s been a busy summer on site at 3 Civic Plaza, Surrey’s newest urban hub and what will be the city’s only premium residences and hotel.

Construction has already surpassed the height of the City Centre Library. Currently, the formwork for Level 2 of the offices is now installed. Both Level 4 transfer walls over the ballroom have been poured and blockwork in the parkade is almost complete and most of the utility connections have been made.

In the coming weeks, construction will reach a height equal with the Mayor’s balcony at Surrey City Hall

Also, stay tuned for a special announcement coming this fall!

Construction Progress: Imagine the Vision

It’s been busy on site at 3 Civic Plaza since we broke ground 12 months ago.  We are now starting to see the structure come out of the ground and we can really start to imagine the vision for the plaza and tower once completed, as Surrey’s newest urban hub and tallest tower.

The excavation for 5 levels of parkade was dug over several months in 2014. Many tonnes of steel and thousands of cubic metres of concrete have been used to build the parkade and to bring the project back up to ground level. There is much more mechanical and electrical work still underway below ground.

May has seen the continuance of the main floor vertical and the decking of level two and three for both the hotel and residential components. The suspended slab for level 2 of the hotel and residences has now been poured along with 50% of the vertical portion being poured as well.

The structure for the combined Residences, Hotel and Office lobby is also now complete and the ‘Public Space’ for the hotel is under construction.

Soon the project will be complete to the same height as the SkyTrain guideway, over 12 metres high. Riders of SkyTrain coming south to the Surrey Central Station will get an amazing perspective of the active construction site.
